Elm Court

Elm Court is a supported living scheme for adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health issues. The property is a 4 bedroom bungalow located in South Benfleet, Essex and the property has been refurbished and adapted to also suit the needs of service users with physical disabilities. The project has been undertaken in a collaborative manner between all involved providers, service users and parents of the service users. This type of project is innovative and we feel that this type of collaborative working is the future of scheme set-ups within supported living. The dedicated staff and management team are highly experienced in managing challenging behaviours, mental health associated needs and complex needs. There are currently 3 male service users at Elm Court, with a slightly younger age range. Each service user has their own standard easy-read individual tenancy agreement with Complete Care Services Ltd. Service users receive support from Tamarindo Care Ltd; this support can be with any and every aspect of daily living.

Aims and Objectives
The aim at Elm Court is to ensure that all individuals are able to reach their full potential both within their home and in the community. We aim to achieve this by:

- Respecting the individual's rights of choice, privacy, respect and dignity.
- To have a safe, secure and homely environment to live in.
- To empower all living at Elm Court to contribute to the decisions on the daily running of their home and to put forward any views and ideas; as well as to make informed choices.
- To provide support to encourage learning and personal development, thus empowering and supporting the individual to reach their full potential.
- Encourage all to participate in daily activities both in their home and out in the community.
- To actively promote links with the local community.
- Work towards the elimination of prejudice and discrimination.
- Liaise with professionals to ensure that a holistic environment can and will be achieved at all times.
- To implement Person Centred plans for all individuals; continually updating and revising them to achieve realistic goals.
- All individuals will have a named Key worker/Link worker.
- To work towards, meet and exceed any minimum standards set by legislation and other external authorities.

Accommodation
There are 4 bedrooms in total at Elm Court. Three bedrooms are for service users and the fourth bedroom in order for support workers to provide sleep-in support. One bedroom has a purpose built en-suite wet room, with a ceiling track/hoist system which tracks directly from the bedroom in to the wet room. There is also another bath/shower room which will be share between two service users. There is a large lounge, dining room, modern kitchen and featured garden, which has access for those with physical disabilities.

Location
Elm Court is located in the town of South Benfleet, Essex; roughly 10 minutes' drive from Basildon. It is also a 15 minute drive to Southend-on-Sea. The property is a short walk from the high street, where there are a number of shops, restaurants, cafes, job opportunities, dentists, doctors, etc. There is also a bus stop directly outside the property; therefore nearby towns such as Southend, Chelmsford and Thurrock are easily accessible by bus.

Individuals who live at Elm Court can enjoy a variety of nearby rural and urban pursuits, such as:

Trips are also made further afield to London, the seaside, theme parks and other attractions; which prove to be very popular with those living at Elm Court. These trips are generally made using public transport, where deemed possible, safe and appropriate. Trips are also made using the service users' motability vehicles.

Staff can also accompany a Service User on their holidays if required (again where deemed possible, safe and appropriate)
